🍌 Banana Ball Rules (The Fun Stuff)

These rules are what make Banana BananZa legendary:

  • Every inning = 1 point.
The team with the most runs in an inning earns the point.
    Final inning: every run counts.
  • Time limit: 1 hour 40 minutes.
No new inning after time expires. Once time hits, it’s the final inning.
  • No stepping out of the box.
    Step out = strike.
  • No bunting.
Bunting is an automatic out. Play is dead.
  • Steal first base.
On any wild pitch or passed ball, the batter can sprint to first.
(Drop third strike rule applies on every pitch.)
  • No walks.
Ball four becomes a Sprint Rule:
    • Batter takes off running.
    • Every infielder (except pitcher) must touch the ball before it’s live.
    • Batter can advance as many bases as possible and cannot be put out until the ball is live.
  • First base coach = last batted out.
Must wear a helmet. Sorry, Joey’s dad.
  • No mound visits.
Coaches and catchers included. If a pitcher’s struggling, they don’t want a chat anyway.
  • Fan-caught foul ball = OUT.
Yes, parents finally get in the game. No judgment if you drop it.

⭐ Golden Batter Rule

Once per game, a team may send any hitter in the lineup to bat in any spot.

Goal:
Your best hitter gets the moment when the game is on the line.

Example 1:
Hitters 6 and 7 make two outs. Team uses the Golden Batter to send their #3 hitter into the 8-hole.

  • The #8 hitter stays in the game but does not bat.
  • Next hitter is the 9-hole.
  • If the Golden Batter reaches base and their lineup spot comes up again, the original hitter becomes the pinch runner.

Example 2:
Yes, the Golden Batter can hit back-to-back in the same inning.

⚔️ Showdown Tiebreaker

If the game is tied after time expires, it’s Showdown Time.

  • Each hitter must score to earn 1 point
  • If they’re out, it’s a Showdown Shutdown
  • In the final showdown, every run counts

Rounds

  • Round 1: Pitcher, catcher, + 1 fielder vs 1 hitter
  • Round 2: Pitcher & catcher vs 1 hitter
  • Round 3: Pitcher, catcher, + 1 fielder vs 1 hitter with bases loaded

If still tied after three rounds, teams continue with bases loaded and one fielder until a winner is decided.

Important Notes

  • Pitchers cannot re-enter once they’ve pitched
  • Hitter is the next batter due up, or the Golden Batter if not yet used
